Announced today, Taryn Crouthers has been appointed the new CEO of SPCSHP, MSQ’s award-winning creative agency, effective October 13th. Crouthers succeeds Ranae Heuer who spent a collective 11 years at SPCSHP leading the business.

With over 20 years of agency experience and most recently as the president of ATTN:, Crouthers grew the company from inception to its $100M acquisition by Candle Media in 2022. A business leader at heart, she was recently named among the 2024 class of Ad Age’s Leading Women and one of Campaign’s 40 over 40. She led ATTN: to being named Adweek’s Fastest Growing Agency, one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies, and landed the agency on Built In’s Best Places to Work.

For 25 years, SPCSHP has set the pace for digital creativity, living at the intersection of culture, technology, and craft. That skillset has never been more relevant,” said Crouthers. “I’ve long admired their work and I’m honored to now lead SPCSHP with MSQ into its next chapter as a truly modern AOR.”

Previously known as Big Spaceship, SPCSHP is famous for its innovative digital and human first marketing campaigns. Founded by Michael Lebowitz, and celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, SPCSHP is one of the most successful digital creative agencies in the US. SPCSHP was acquired by MSQ in 2024, increasing the group’s annual revenues in North America to $100MM. Quickly, the agency has become an integral part of the group’s market-leading, multidisciplinary offering that includes creative, consumer insights, media, and much more providing clients with a one-stop shop for their industry needs at scale.

“As we began our search for a new CEO of SPCSHP, Taryn was at the top of our list for some time,” said Aaron Lang, President of MSQ North America. “Her proven acumen including client relationships and her ability to scale a business piqued our interest, but her passion for creativity and innovation made her an

incredible candidate. I’m thrilled she chose to join the group in this role. We wish Ranae the best as she was instrumental in the acquisition of SPCSHP and our work with the business so far.”

With long standing relationships with major brands like Chase, Dropbox, and BOTOX® Cosmetic, SPCSHP is poised for continued growth with Crouthers leading the agency. Their reputation is one of deep client relationships and social-first campaigns. Most recently their work with Early Warning digital-wallet brand, Paze, has been honored as a finalist in the Best New or Emerging Brand category at the 2025 ARF David Ogilvy Awards and won in the Best Use of YouTube category at the 2025 Digiday Media Awards. Heuer began her career at SPCSHP as Managing Director from 2008 to 2016 and returned to SPCSHP as CEO in 2022.

Founder and Chairman of SPCSHP, Michael Lebowitz spoke of her time with the agency: “I am unbelievably proud of the work Ranae and I have been able to do in our more than eleven years together at SPCSCHP. As we celebrate 25 years in this business, I’m honored that I have been able to be a small part of Ranae’s story. Now as we bring on Taryn with her track record of growth and innovation within the industry, I’m confident she’ll be able to hit the ground running by developing deep connections and fresh perspective with our current clients and creating a culture where our employees can do the best work of their careers.

Of her time with the agency, Heuer said, “Working at SPCSHP has been a dream and I’m thankful that I will be closing this chapter of my career after working side by side with these incredibly talented creatives, strategists, and creators. For the past 25 years, SPCSHP has been a special place and as I announced my transition earlier this year, it was important to find someone who not only respected our agency’s culture but would be able to bring fresh perspectives to the way we work. Taryn has exactly that. She has an incredible pedigree and a style that will help SPCSHP continue to grow for years to come.”
